Oh wait it gets better! Once boarded the plane we proceeded to sit at the gate due to air traffic control room not allowing us to leave. They then began serving us drinks.......then more drinks..........then we finally hear a message from the flight attendant. The crowd grumbled and we thought the worst. Come to find out it was not so bad..........just that they were delaying us longer therefore they were going to feed us supper on the plane prior to leaving. Supper was alright but we were now going on 3 hours delay. Finally we lifted off and landed in Guangzhou. We got our bags and proceeded to the area to meet our guide.
Oh the fun fill day didn't stop there. Our guide was a little grumpy due to it being 12 am when we arrived which was out of our hands. We arrived at the hotel only to have them tell us our room was not ready. Our guide was less than pleased with the Hotel. Something about a plumbing issue.
Finally after a quick shower I headed to bed around 2 am. Jeremiah was out as soon as his bed was put together. Krista and Kalyn (pronounced: Kal(like California), in) decided to stay up for a while. Morning came way to fast. We had to be downstairs and ready at 8:40am. So we arrived at the breakfast bar at 7:40 to quickly eat and then we had to figure out where to make copies. Our guide kept telling us to go to 30th floor to make the copies. We like many other Westerns were having trouble getting our elevator to the 30th floor when it would only go to the 28th. Needless to say we were in the wrong set of elevators. Who would have figured. We got our copies and then headed to the doctors appointment with another Lifeline family. They have a beautiful little girl and a very cute little guy they are traveling with. We all were the first ones in line at the Consulate doctors therefore we were out of there quickly. Also the doctors realized that Kalyn was only 21 months old therefore he did not have to get blood drawn for the TB testing. Yeah for Kalyn's sake.
We arrived back at our hotel around 10:30 in which the moms headed back downstairs to fill out more paperwork. Kalyn, Jeremiah and myself stayed in the room and vegged. Mommy headed back to the room around 12 to let us know that we have a problem with the paperwork. There is a 2 month discrepancy in where Kalyn was prior to the orphanage. So we have Micheal in Chongqing working on fixing that. Did I mention how much we miss Micheal he is such an asset to Lifeline China. Miko is our guide here in Guangzhou and although it has been a rough rocky start it has started to improve. Miko is very thorough and her personally is growing on us. We hope our stay here will continue to improve and that our paperwork will be fixed quickly. We greatly appreciate your continued support and prayers for us here in China and our daughters back home.
Karah and Jennah daddy loves you and misses you very much. I can't wait to hug you both! Only a few more sleeps and we will be home.
Since I wrote a long boring synopses of our last 24 hours I will leave you with a couple of jokes Micheal told us.
Chongqing is one of the fastest growing cities in China. Most of the hundred some bridges have been built along with many sky scrapers in the last 10 years. So do you know what the Chongqing state bird is?
...................the crane......industrial crane. Lol
So there are many Chinese people who use a large 2" diameter bamboo stick to carry very heavy things. Do you know why they use two thin bamboo sticks to carry very lite things?
..............because it is much easier to eat Chinese rice noodle with two sticks. Lol
After supper tonight we got locked out of our room. Our keys worked but the door was jammed. We were brought to the 30th floor rotating executive lounge to enjoys food while we waited for the door repair. What an experience. Laughed a lot and lightened the mood after a doozy couple of days. 30 minutes later we were safe and sound in our room.
Enjoy these pictures of our Chongqing Hotel before leaving and some Airplane Fun
